Core Values

MISSION

Our vision is to shape a more inclusive and equitable film industry where women—supported by their male allies and communities—are fully represented, fairly compensated, and fearlessly creative. Through mentorship, leadership development, and strategic partnerships, we work to break barriers, influence industry standards, and amplify voices that reflect the beauty and diversity of our world.

Building Opportunity Through the Power of Storytelling

Ladies in Film & Television (LIFT), founded in 2009, is a Texas-based nonprofit creative industry organization that develops talent, creates opportunities, and builds platforms for independent filmmakers, content creators, youth, and entertainment professionals. Originally founded as Headline Mentors & Performing Arts and rebranded in 2019, LIFT has grown into a regional connector that helps bridge the gap between training, exposure, and real industry access.

At its core, LIFT is about creating spaces where creatives can learn, be seen, and move forward. Through programs such as workshops, screenings, mentorship, media training, youth development, networking events, and the Texas Indie Filmmaker Awards, LIFT supports both emerging and established voices while helping creatives strengthen their craft, expand their networks, and grow sustainable careers and businesses.

LIFT is especially committed to opening doors for underrepresented voices, but its work is broader than representation alone. The organization is building an infrastructure where storytelling, professional development, entrepreneurship, and community all meet. Whether through film education, industry recognition, partnership-building, or business support for creatives, LIFT exists to help people not just participate in the entertainment industry but navigate it with greater confidence, preparation, and visibility.

In short, LIFT is a creative development and opportunity hub that uses media, education, and industry programming to help diverse talent across Texas rise, connect, and thrive.

Our Core Pillars

  • Creative Workforce Development
Empowering emerging and established talent through workshops, mentorship, and career-building opportunities across all facets of film and media.

Supporting freelancers, entrepreneurs, and local vendors by stimulating film-related job creation and vendor partnerships within the state.

  • Arts & Education Access
Offering educational programming and youth engagement to build early exposure to film and media careers—particularly in underserved communities.

  • Representation & Recognition
Showcasing diverse voices and celebrating the contributions of Texas-based creatives through our signature programs and awards.

  • Community Engagement & Inclusion
Strengthening community identity through storytelling, local screenings, and events that bring people together to learn, celebrate, and connect.
