Vision

Core Values

MISSION

Our vision is to shape a more inclusive and equitable film industry where women—supported by their male allies and communities—are fully represented, fairly compensated, and fearlessly creative. Through mentorship, leadership development, and strategic partnerships, we work to break barriers, influence industry standards, and amplify voices that reflect the beauty and diversity of our world.

Building Opportunity Through the Power of Storytelling

Ladies in Film & Television (LIFT) is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing economic development and workforce inclusion within the creative arts industry. Based in Texas, we support independent filmmakers and behind-the-scenes professionals—particularly women and underrepresented creatives—by providing access to training, resources, networking, and recognition through events like the Texas Indie Filmmaker Awards.

As a catalyst for local job creation, LIFT helps develop tangible opportunities for actors, writers, directors, producers, hairstylists, makeup artists, set designers, photographers, and others. Many of these professionals are freelancers or small business owners who depend on a thriving independent production ecosystem to sustain their livelihoods.

We believe that storytelling is not only art—it is economic empowerment. As Texas continues to rise as a competitive hub for independent filmmaking, LIFT proudly contributes to a creative economy that fuels innovation, education, and inclusive growth.

Our Core Pillars

  • Creative Workforce Development
Empowering emerging and established talent through workshops, mentorship, and career-building opportunities across all facets of film and media.

  • Economic Opportunity & Small Business Support
Supporting freelancers, entrepreneurs, and local vendors by stimulating film-related job creation and vendor partnerships within the state.

  • Arts & Education Access
Offering educational programming and youth engagement to build early exposure to film and media careers—particularly in underserved communities.

  • Representation & Recognition
Showcasing diverse voices and celebrating the contributions of Texas-based creatives through our signature programs and awards.

  • Community Engagement & Inclusion
Strengthening community identity through storytelling, local screenings, and events that bring people together to learn, celebrate, and connect.
